Corrine Umfleet (nee Hufnagel)
91, of Cedar Lake, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019, to the other side where she will be reunited with those who passed before her. She is survived by her children, Allen (Annette) Umfleet, Rose (Charlie) Veteto, Vicki (Doug) Page, Tina (Scott) Zwahr; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Chuck (Andrea) Hufnagel and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack C. and Jim “Chunky” and sons, Richard D. and Jack D.; grandson, Scott Veteto; parents, Mike and Laura Hufnagel; sisters, Gerogette (Wesley) Hayden, Anna Mae (Whip) Quasebarth, Mary (Don) McClellan, brothers in law, John (Pauline) and Ishmael (Virginia) Umfleet and her faithful companion, Oscar. Corrine was born November 4, 1928 and was a 1946 Lowell High School graduate. She worked at Costas Foods in the Courtesy Booth for many years before retiring to Yogi Bear Campground, Plymouth, IN and wintering in TX. Her favorite hobby was crocheting. Her competitive nature came alive when she played Yahtzee and Rummikub. She loved planning family get-togethers, watching Blue Bloods and going to the casinos. Corrine had been a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Visitation, Thursday December 19 from 4-8 at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell. Funeral Mass, Friday, 11AM at her church, 216 S. Nichols, Lowell with Burial following in Sanders Cemetery.
