Geneva Bias Obituary

Valeria Geneva Bias
70, of Warsaw, passed away at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, surrounded by her children. She was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Madison, W.Va., to Dixie Lee Nora Sansom Miller and Levi Richard Miller. On Aug. 29, 1962, she married Donald E. Bias Sr. at Danville Lumber Company in West Virginia. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 2010. She resided in West Virginia until 1969. On Aug. 29, 1969, she and Donald moved to Cedar Lake, Ind. She was so proud to earn her GED in 1991 and begin her work career. Her first job was at The Golden Nugget in Cedar Lake, where she started out doing dishes. In August 1981, she started working in food service at St. Anthony Hospital (now Franciscan Health) in Crown Point. She retired in November 2010. She moved to Warsaw at the end of 2010 to be closer to her children. She most recently worked at Owen's Supermarket in Warsaw, where she met many friends. She was a member of the Warsaw Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She very much enjoyed being with her church family and especially Tuesday game nights. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Donald E. (Anita) Bias Jr., Warsaw; two daughters, Teressa (Roger) Pauley, Pendleton, and Tina (the late Jerry) Bailey, Anderson; five grandchildren, Melissa Stepro, Warsaw, Jessica (Ian) Garcia, Milford, Erika Bias, Warsaw, Rachel Bailey, Muncie, and Laura Bailey, Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Braxton, Zachary, Xander, Jaxon and Ella; one brother, Hansel "Buddy" (Janice) Miller, West Virginia; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Miller, Ohio, and Betty (Roger) Newsome, Selma. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Lee Bias, on Nov. 25, 1965; her parents; and three brothers, Clayton Miller, Dennie Miller and Levi Miller. Visitation, Saturday, June 23, from 11 to 1 Concluding with Funeral Services at 1PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commerical Ave., Lowell. Burial will follow in Lowell Memorial Cemetery.
