Arlene Barnes

79, of Lowell, IN passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Jim) Johnson; grandchildren, Kristen (Jonathan Tratar), Erin (Schaefer Roach) and Toren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents, Henry and Katherine Vanderborg; brothers, Henry and Robert Vanderborg. Arlene was strong in her faith and a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dolton, IL. She enjoyed the outdoors gardening, birdwatching and her biggest passion, fishing; her and Roy even spent their honeymoon together fishing. Arlene also loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation, Saturday, March 14th from 2-6PM with Memorial Service following at 6PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave, Lowell, IN 46356. Inurnment will take place in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
