Bonnie Rose Elliott, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 76 with her family by her side on June 2, 2023 at Franciscan Health in Crown Point.
She was born to Elmer B. Lamport and Lillian W. Piepho on June 10, 1946 in Gary, Indiana. She grew up in Cedar Lake and attended Lowell schools for her education career.
She met the love of her life, Garry E. Elliott, at the young age of 16. They instantly connected and started dating shortly thereafter. At the age of 17, they said “I do” to one another and have not left each other’s side since. Their first interaction was truly love at first sight and something our family has been so thankful to witness and be a part of. Together they have celebrated a wonderful, eventful and memorable 61 years together (59 year married).
Family, hard work, antiques, the Chicago Cubs and the Christmas Holiday were some of the major cornerstones of her life. She loved nothing more than supporting her children and grandchildren in everything they did and providing an unforgettable Christmas every year for her family. Her main hobby was collecting antiques and attending antique shows with her husband, son and daughter-in-law.
While her memory will live on, she will be deeply missed by husband of 59 years Garry E. Elliott of Lowell, Indiana; her son, Todd Elliott (LeAndra) of Indianapolis, Indiana, her daughter Tammy Hine (Mike) of Noblesville, Indiana; her grandchildren, Tina Layly (Jeremy) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brandon Elliott (Meagan) of Murray, Kentucky, Morgan Hine of Noblesville, Indiana, Anthony Rennaker (Kayla) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Shannon Elliott of College Station, Texas, Marissa Woodford (Eli) of San Francisco, California and Madison Hine of Indianapolis, Indiana; her great-grandchildren, Adyson Rogers, Bentley Elliott, Aubrey Rennaker, Anthony Rennaker, Jr., Harper Elliott and Brooklyn Howell; along with many friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, who both passed away at the age of 76.
Our beautiful mother and Nana would wave goodbye to her family until we were out of her sight and we are at peace that she will now never have to wave and be out of our sight again.
The family shares its abundance appreciation and thanks to Franciscan Health Crown Point for the wonderful love and care they provided Bonnie the last few months as she battled her illnesses.
The family will accept friends for a visitation on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave, Lowell, Indiana. A memorial service will immediately follow starting at 7 PM with Pastor Robert Cocke officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital to help cure childhood cancer.
