Carolyn M. (Kormendy) Williams

93, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on July 11, 2026.

Carolyn was born in Hammond, Indiana, and graduated from Lowell High School in 1950.  For ten years, she worked at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Lowell where she met her husband, Herb.  Together, they enjoyed many years in Lowell where they raised their son, Randy.  Upon Herb’s retirement from Sears, they resided on Raccoon Lake in Rockville, Indiana; Carolyn enjoyed spending time there with her grandchildren, oil painting, and gardening.  Later, they moved to Bloomington, Indiana, and Carolyn served on her neighborhood’s landscaping committee as a master gardener. 

Carolyn loved and was deeply loved by her family, friends, and neighbors, and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Surviving are three grandchildren – Dustin (Jody) Williams of Lowell; Jennifer (Michael) Reynolds of Omaha, Nebraska; and Rachel (Jonathon) Nix of Grand Junction, Michigan; and eight great-grandchildren – Emma and Isabella Williams; Arya, Zoe, and Kai Reynolds; and Bronson, Brynlee, and Maddyx Nix.

Also surviving are Carolyn’s brother Joseph (Roberta) Kormendy; sister-in-law Karen Kormendy; stepsisters Dorothy Gerner, Mary Runfeldt and Norma (Mel) Minion; and many nephews and nieces and their families. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Williams; son Randall Williams; brother Edmund Kormendy; several brothers-in-law, stepbrothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nephews; parents Joseph Kormendy, Sr., and Mary (Kish) Kormendy Forburger; stepfather Raymond Forburger; and grandparents Emory and Mary Kish.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, in West Creek Cemetery, all through Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Lowell.
