Charles Cournoyer
90, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020. He is survived by his children, Carol McDonald, Paul, Charles, Cyndi and Trish Cournoyer, Cissy Redlightning-Cain, and Richard Hurt; step children, Vicky and Rick; 10 granddaughters, 1 grandson, several great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Garvene “Dean” and her children, David, Cathy, Debbie, Steve and Diane and his 12 siblings. Charles was an Auto Worker and UAW member working for BUDD Company in Gary most of his career. He then became a Welder, working for the Town of Munster until retirement. He was a Navy Veteran, member of the Roselawn American Legion and member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. He loved gardening and canning, planting a large garden each year. Visitation Sunday, January 3 from 2-5 with Funeral Services Monday at 11, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell. Burial will follow in Orchard Grove Cemetery.
