Dorothy “Dottie” A. Trommer
90, of Lowell, IN, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025.
Dorothy lived out the final chapter in her book of life and went to be with her beloved husband, Paul, son Glen, and nine brothers and sisters.
Born in South Dakota as part of a large family, being one of eleven children, Dottie had a desire for adventure. In an effort to see the world, Dottie joined the United States Air Force and met her love, Paul. As they built a life together, they grew their own family with three children. Debbie (George) Nichols, Glen, and Dennis Trommer.
While she was known as Dottie to most, she was affectionately known to the greatest joys in her life as Gram, G-ma, or Gigi. Her family grew and so did her love of 3 grandchildren, Dustin (Trish), Stephenie (Loudan), and Erin (Brandon); 3 great grandchildren, Corey, Cooper, and Charlie; and the blessing of 3 additional great grandchildren, through blended families; Kody, Krystal, and Blakely. Always there to run a forgotten gym uniform to the school, be there with afterschool snacks and homework, and let her grand pups out to play midday. She was the first to teach her great grandchildren that blowing bubbles in the house and sneaking a candy bar before dinner is OK. She raised her family with pride.
For a number of years, Dottie was an active member in the Women’s Auxiliaries for Lowell’s American Legion Post 101 and VFW Post 6841. As an avid Colts fan, dog lover, card player and the best maker of popcorn balls and rhubarb desserts, Dottie will be greatly missed and celebrated by her family and friends.
