Ernest Ford

87, of Shelby, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.  He is survived by his children, Stanley (Patti) of WI, Donna Cooper of Rensselaer, Michael (Shirley) of IL, Phillip (Roberta) of East Chicago, Jeffrey (Peggy) Ford of Camby, and Gregory (Tracy) of Wheatfield; sister, Betty Hambrick; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye; siblings, Paul, Virginia Grahm, and Linda Hambrick. 

Ernest was a retired Supervisor who had worked for Stratojac, Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Humes and Berg, and Tradewinds.  He also owned and operated E B and G, Inc. He was a member of the Shelby Lions Club, Hammond Boy Scouts, and the Diana Chapter of the Izaak Walton League where he was instrumental in creating scholarships.  He also coached Little League in Shelby and Roselawn. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17 from 10-12, Concluding with a Funeral Service at 12 PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lowell, IN.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Rensselaer. 

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Diana Chapter, Izaak Walton League of America.
