Gary "Papa" King
75, of Lowell, IN unexpectedly passed surrounded by his loving family February 14, 2025.
Gary was a hard-working man who attended DeVry institute which led to a 35 year career as a Central Office Technician for AT&T.
Outside of work, Gary was a dedicated Christian and member of Robert's Road Bible Church. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he had a giant heart and loved his family dearly. Always easy going, he never lost an opportunity to make people smile with his quick wit and one-liners. He was a man that always put others needs before his own. His family always relied heavily on his advice and his children deeply cherished his wisdom.
In his free time, Gary loved wood working; crafting cabinets and furniture for his family home and an avid gardener, he loved growing a vegetable garden each summer. With his family, he traveled all over the United States visiting historic sites and enjoying America's scenic splendor.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Catherine (Cathy); children, Gary (Juliana) King, Tammy (Timothy) DeSomer, Karen (Jason Kreke) King, Ryan King; grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Weidmen, Jermey King, Joshua King, Brandon (Katie) DeSomer, Bryan DeSomer, Matthew (Mallory) DeSomer, Morgan (Christopher Stroh) DeSomer, Lennox King; great grandchildren, Daniel, Lily and Luke Weidmen, Sadie DeSomer; sister, Barbara Foetisch; many sibling in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, James and Norabel King.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 23rd from 2-6PM. Funeral Service, Monday, 10AM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave, Lowell, IN 46356. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Oak Lawn, IL.
