George Blissett Obituary

George “Geo” Blissett,

55 of Wolcott and formerly of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly Saturday,
February 11, 2023. He is survived by his wife Dawn (nee Goetz), his beloved pets: Roxie, Bella, Lucy, Jade and Luna, sisters Dawn (Mike) Sylvester and Anna (James) Abram; he was a devoted and loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, with a special brotherly bond with nephews Kenny Blissett and Mikey
Sylvester. A loving son-in-law to Eric and Frances Goetz, and a great brother-in-law to Dawn’s siblings and their spouses. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by parents Chuck and Patsy Blissett.

George was a 1985 Lowell High School graduate, attended Mankato University (University of Minnesota) on a full ride scholarship for baseball. After graduating from Tri State University with a Bachelor’s in Business /Management, he worked many years as a Territory Sales Manager in both the medical and industrial fields. George was very competitive and loved winning at all things! He really enjoyed his XBOX and was a diehard Prince and Chicago Bears fan. He ran a Fantasy football league for many years and really enjoyed heckling his counterparts. He had several close guy friends that were near and dear to his heart
that he loved to get together with to watch a game, tailgate or just hang out for a beer or two. He was especially close to his brothers from another mother, Kevin McCarthy, whom he talked to daily and hung out with on a regular basis, and David Schutz whom he was there for when he passed away in May of
2020.  Everyone loved George because George brought the best out of everyone, especially through laughter.  His magnetic and witty personality had a way of bringing you in when he told his captivating and elaborate stories. He loved to tell jokes, play pranks, and entertain those around him, simply put he was
larger than life itself. He was an intelligent visionary and creative organizer who planned events such as  their elaborate vintage wedding, numerous Wolcott community projects/festivals and especially, his kickass reunions for the class of “85”, who were not just his dear close friends but his “family”.
George and Dawn had a deep connection and love for each other. George enjoyed traveling with his wife, antique shopping and snagging deals, if you needed something he could find it. If you knew George, you knew his loving, kind and generous heart, helping those around him always, even after life
he continued to give as a donor to the Indiana Donor Network. He is going to leave a big void in the hearts of so many who loved him.
