Gisela Erika Peterson
86, passed away at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus, West Lafayette, Indiana on February 11, 2025. A resident of Lowell, Indiana for 66 years, Gisela was born in Breslau, Germany on April 7, 1938. Born to Bruno and Erika Wilhelm, she and her family were displaced during the tragedies of WWII, suffering through the difficulties of the war as refugees and ultimately settling in Ulm, Germany. At the age of 20, she married American soldier Ronald F. Peterson and moved to Lowell in 1958. Ron and Gisela were married for 46 years before Ron passed away in 2005. Gisela was a lifelong member of the Lowell First United Methodist Church where she loved to serve in various ministries. Gisela loved homemaking, gardening and was a blessing to everyone she met. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Debby) Peterson of Attica, and Mark (Sarah) Peterson of Indianapolis. Gisela also loved her five grandchildren: Tatianna Peterson and Kristina (Noah) Lewis; Bryan, Aren and Nicolas Peterson. She is also survived by her brother Hans-Peter Wilhelm of Ulm and preceded in death by her brother Klaus-Dieter Wilhelm of Munich. Gisela worked in customer service for over three decades at Wilco Foods in Lowell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 520 East Commercial Ave, Lowell, Indiana. Pastor Mark Berg officiating. Visitation precedes the funeral from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in Lowell Memorial Cemetery.
