James Alan Hicks
73, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026. He is survived by sons, Matthew of East Chicago, and Jerame (Sara) of Schererville; grandchildren and great-grandchild; his sister, Patricia (Jose) Rivera of Lowell; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred, Sr. and Mary; and siblings, Fred, Jr., and Donna Kokot.
Jim was a proud graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1971. He dedicated 42 years as a Steel Worker to Inland Steel/ArcelorMittal, working in the #3 Open Hearth and #4 BOF, and was a member of the company’s 25 Year Club. Jim enjoyed working in the yard growing plants and flowers and was a car enthusiast, able to name every make and model of any car he saw. He was also a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Lowell.
Graveside services will take place Friday, May 15, 2026, at 12 PM in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Lowell.
Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
