84, of Hebron, IN, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday February 19, 2026.   He is survived by his beloved wife of  55 years, Susan (Vandercar) Hayden. He was a proud and devoted father to Matt (Chari), Jeremy (Kelly), Jamie, and Bobby (Jessica) Hayden. Jerry cherished his role as grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Conner (Alexis Janeczko), Zachary, Jacinda, Drew, Erin, Ryan Jr., Colton, Ryder, Kennedy, Indy, and Jillian.  He is also survived by his sister, Dorthy Bachman; brothers Wayne Hayden and Bill (Linda) Hayden; along with many extended family members and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Georgette Hayden, and his brother, Dick Hayden.

Jerry was a dedicated and hardworking farmer purchasing his first farm in 1976, a milestone that reflected his determination and love for the land. Jerry was a member of the Lake County Farm Bureau and the Indian Trail Grange. He was also a longtime member of Range Line Presbyterian Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life.  Jerry and Susie shared countless adventures with Bill and Linda, traveling to 49 states together and always finding something to laugh about along the way. Most mornings, Jerry could be found at the farmers’ table, sipping coffee, sharing stories, and enjoying fellowship with friends. Whether here or in Florida, he was always up for a game of cards.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22 from 2-6 at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lowell, with Funeral Services Monday, 11 AM, at his church.  Burial will follow in Orchard Grove Cemetery.
