He attended Purdue for two years, served in the Navy for two years, and back to Purdue to finish his degree. Upon graduation he returned to the family grain farm with pure bred Angus cattle where he migrated into strawberries, U-pick vegetables, tomatoes for Heinz and Red Gold, and ultimately hot peppers, tomatillos, cantalope, and watermelon for shipment. He was a passionate farmer and a humble steward for the farm he loved. He was a member of Young Farmers of America, Scottish Rite, and was a 32 Degree Mason with the Colfax Blue Lodge . John was a loyal and devoted Purdue, Cubs, and Bears fan. Above all else he had a great sense of humor and loved and enjoyed a good prank.
