Joyce Ann Bailey

67, of Lowell, IN, formerly of Hammond, IN passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Joyce was born December 6, 1956 in West Virginia to Wally and Mattie Bailey. She is proceeded in joining the Lord; her grandparents; parents; sister, Deborah Newbolds; niece, Cassie Lewandowski; and many other extended family. She is survived by her niece, Carrie (Casey) Summers; special sister, Diana Morris; godson, Joshua (Deanna) Janosi; goddaughter, Katie Lewandowski; very close cousin to Belinda (Frank) Janosi, Samantha Janosi and many other cousins; Mother figure to “Adoptive” daughter, Dana (Keith) Shonk and her 3 boys, “Adopted” son, Dustin Griffin; other children in her life, Beth Koartge, TJ Lewandowski, Alex and Aiden Lewandowski, Mason Huke, Willow and Meadow Higginbotham, Ciara Ramos. Joyce was a graduate of Hammond Tech, Class of 1975, where she met her lifelong friend, Sandy (Roger) Koartge. While she living in Hammond, she became lifelong friends with her neighbor, Donna (Chillie) Prater. The best word to sum Joyce up is “Caregiver”. She was a caregiver to many beautiful families. She was a cancer survivor, she was very proud of beating Stage 4. Joyce loved to play bunco, puzzles, go to Bingo with friends and family. She loved to ride horses, getting Chinese food and going shopping, especially to Wal-Mart. Joyce was an amazing woman who touched many hearts and was loved by many. She was a strong, independent woman with a beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed. Private Cremation entrusted to Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Lowell, IN.
