Larry Kirgan

85, of Lowell, IN, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023.  He is survived by his wife Anna Marie Kirgan; children, Michael Kirgan (Kaaryn Cater), Chris Kirgan, Teri Horton (Eric Horton), Rick Kirgan (Martha Alicia Vargas,) Judith Baez; grandchildren, David, Danny, Ellen, Steven, Julian and Thomas; and great grandchildren, Luca, Devi, Nora, and Frankie.  

Larry grew up in Southern Illinois and graduated from the Northwestern University School of Music. He served in the United States Army before becoming band director at Hanover High School in Cedar Lake. Larry then worked for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Company until his retirement. He was an avid trombone player throughout his life and participated in multiple community bands in NW Indiana.  He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love of horse racing, and the camera that was never far from his reach.
