Lawrence "Larry" Lashbrook Jr. Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” Lashbrook

January 8, 1944 - May 20, 2019

Beloved ornery husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, Larry passed peacefully at home on May 20, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida (Meyer) Lashbrook and Lawrence A. Lashbrook, Sr.; brothers, Jack and Bob Lashbrook; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Jim Springsteen. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-one years, Theresa (Kras) Lashbrook; children, April Lashbrook, Angela (Kevin) Baehr, Amanda Broggi, and Joseph (Stephanie) Lashbrook; grandchildren, Alora Baehr, Julia Lashbrook, Zachary Baehr, Julian Lashbrook, Benjamin Baehr, Judith Lashbrook, Zoey Baehr, and Emma Broggi; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Born in Gary, Larry grew up in Lake County, graduated from Hammond Tech in 1962, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, married Theresa in 1967, and moved to Newton County in 1983. He belonged to the McKinley 712 Lodge of the Indiana Freemasons for 32 years, and, after discovering his son and grandson were eligible to join the Sons of the American Revolution, he decided age didn’t matter, and applied to join as well. He was a professional tinkerer with machines, having been a graphics technician for 47 years, working on most offset printing machines and owning ASAP’s Offset for over 20 years, servicing customers’ printing machines in Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Starke counties. He loved to fish, play poker and slots, putter in the garage, never met a stranger, and always had a story to tell. He was a generally patient teacher of how to do many things, and could tell you about a better way to butter your bread. His humor, spirit, love and honor will be greatly missed.
