Lucille Estelle Halmagy nee Gemeinhart
98, of Portage, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Lowell. She born in Gary, IN on September 30, 1926 to Albert and Sophie Gemeinhart. She is survived by her children, Craig (Rene) Halmagy of TX and April McCormack of Lowell; grandson, John David (Julie) Searer, of Portage; and great grandsons, Jack and Colton of Portage. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, of over 40 years, Victor; parents, Albert and Sophie Wisniewski Gemeinhart; sisters, Elizabeth Stefanovich, Dorothy Pierce.
Lucille had a 42-year career with the Eastern Joliet and Elgin Railway (EJ &E), retiring in 1989. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, especially her grandson, John. She always enjoyed traveling to Texas to see her son, and his family, and was absolutely one of the biggest Chicago Bears fans you’d ever meet. Remembered with love, forever in our hearts, a life well lived.
Graveside Services DIRECTLY in Calvary Cemetery, Portage IN, MONDAY, JUNE 23rd at 1:00 PM.
