Margaret “Ruth” Backe

79, died March 30, 2023, with her family by her side in Lowell, Indiana. Ruth was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother “Nana”, and great-grandmother. A woman who loved well and was well-loved. Born in England, she moved to America when she was just 17 years old. She will be dearly missed and survived by her husband, Delbert; Children, Karen Roque, Andrew (Yan) Backe, Kristine (Rick) Briggs, William (Jennifer) Backe, and Marion Backe; Grandchildren, Adam Roque, Kevin (Emily) Reese, Wesley (Stephanie) Reese, Ten (Ana) Backe, Ashlyn (Riley) Backe, Ambrosia (Justin) and Ryana Backe; Great-Grandchildren, Navi, Izzy, and Jackson; Siblings, Joyce (Bob) Doty, Marion Dent, and Roger (Helen) Abbott. She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne; Parents, William and Irene Abbott; Siblings, Marjorie and Peter; Brother in law, Dennis Dent. All who loved her dearly and will never forget her charm, selflessness, and undying love and care for them.  Ruth lived a full life as a wonderful mother and homemaker. She loved to read her newspaper,
do sudoku puzzles, and spend time with her family. She was a devoted member of Lake Prairie Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. Ruth always saw the positive in every situation, she would encourage you to aim for the highest goals and always answered when you called. She loved her family and instilled strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Thursday, April 6th from 4-6 pm with Memorial Service following at 6 pm at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E.
