Mark Robert Sampson
66, of Lowell, IN, died at home surrounded by love on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, after a battle with cancer.
Mark graduated from Lowell High School in 1975 and, after a mysterious year-long stint gallivanting through Europe, started his career at Huber Ranch in Schneider, Indiana. From there, he spent much of his life dedicated to selling products to help grow and maintain healthy grass across Midwest golf courses (even though his putt could use some work). In retirement, he just couldn’t give it up and took his lawn care talents to Tri-Creek Schools. All of this work translated into proudly having the best lawn in the neighborhood. Outside of work, Mark was committed to taking his wife and children on road trips across the US (because god forbid we fly anywhere). He was a lifelong Cubs fan and frequent patron at The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Some of his free time was dedicated to becoming a licensed pilot, attempting to learn the guitar, and buying a sailboat so he could one day navigate by the stars. Turns out there are A LOT of stars. He made sure to hog the TV remote every weekday at 3:30 p.m. to watch (and crush everyone else at) Jeopardy. He was truly the life of the party and a friend to all.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pamela; children, Adam and Ashley; granddaughter, Rilynn; siblings, Kelly (Jeff) Besaw and Scott (Lee); several nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kay Sampson, and his stepdaughter Megan Miller.
A celebration in Mark’s honor will be held on Saturday, June 3 at Mi Ranchito in Lowell from 12-4pm. Cremation and arrangements through Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lowell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family to help defray medical expenses. We also ask that you watch today’s episode of Jeopardy and try not to embarrass him.
