Naomi Fay Grant (nee Ditter), of Lowell, peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2022, while surrounded by her family.
Naomi was born on December 16th, 1931, to Benjamin and Vada Ditter in Clay City, Illinois. Later she moved in with family in the Chicagoland area and met her sweetheart, Ted. They married in 1947 and settled in Gary, Indiana. Naomi was a hairstylist prior to having children and enjoyed dancing, especially the Jitterbug. In 1968, shortly after having their three daughters, they built their custom dream home in Lowell.
Naomi was known for her infectious laugh and her love of her family. One of her favorite past times was playing a game of cards or board games with her family. Everyone knew it was serious business to play a game with her and her family enjoyed trying to get a rise out of her – which always brought on her laugh! She also enjoyed crafting and working with Ted on projects. At their home there was almost always good music playing, songs from the Big Band era, Sinatra and Simon & Garfunkel were some of her favorites!
Naomi was preceded by her husband Ted Grant, parents, several brothers and sisters, daughter Lori McWilliams, grandchildren Rikki Cianncio, James Bueshing. She is survived by daughters Gail (Rodger) Michaels living in Tennessee and Tracey (Larry) Bright living in Indiana; grandchildren Cassandra (John) Garibotte, Jessica (Arlyn) Hoselton all living in Tennessee, Randall (Dee) Jones, Jacob Jones, Cheyenne Wrath all living in Colorado, Amanda (Dustin) Ewing, Megan (Eric) Mercier, Nicholas (Larissa) Bright, and Andrew (Rachael) Bright all living in Indiana. Naomi all has 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Sheets Funeral home on November 5, 2022, from 2pm – 3:45pm, followed by a prayer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, an organization Ted and Naomi cared a lot about.
