Phyllis M. Lowery of Lowell, suddenly passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, after 85 wonderful years. Full of life, Phyllis could always be counted upon for the comfort, guidance, and love that touched everyone she met. Affectionately known as "Miss Lowery" to the hundreds of students she taught over the years, Phyllis was an inspiration to all to strive to reach one's full potential. Her signature trademark, the two-dollar bill, was the source of much humor and laughter. In the end, Phyllis was the best example of what a person could hope to be: a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a patriot who loved her country and was not afraid to show it. It can be said of this, the world is a little bit dimmer, a little less joyful, and more sorrowful for her passing. Her absence will be felt for so many years to come.
She is survived by her children, Julie (Michael Tibor) Galassini, V. Elaine (Joseph) Marigliano, Candi (Doug) Jackson and Valerie (David) Gilbert; 10 grandchildren, Sara (Adam) Shaull, Stanley (Katie) Stout, Abigail (Joseph) Williams, Matthew (Casey)Stout, Amelia Jackson, Katherine Jackson, Stephanie (Petey) VanHorssen, Kevin (Natalie) Gilbert, Rebecca (Conner) Marigliano-Martin, Lily Marigliano, and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, William and Robert Lowery.
Phyllis served in the US Army for a total of 14 years with two separate enlistments. She was a Substitute Teacher with Tri Creek School Corp. and a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
A celebration of her life will take place with Visitation, Sunday October 3 from 2-6pm. There will be a religious service promptly at 5pm, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell.
Burial will take place in Beckley, WV.
