Rita Gerst

84, of Lowell, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023.  She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughter, Cathy (Don) Overmeyer; grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Overmeyer; sister, Agnes (Gerald) Breetzke and nieces and nephews.   

She was preceded in death by her son Michael and brother, John Kirkus. 

Rita was a retired Secretary with Lake Prairie Elementary School.  She was a member of St. Edward Church in Lowell, where she served on the Funeral Luncheon Committee.  She was a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.  Rita baked pie’s for many fund raisers and organizations and was lovingly known as “The Pie Lady”

Visitation Monday, March 6 from 3-7 at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lowell, with Funeral Mass Tuesday, 11 AM, at her church, 216 S. Nichols St. in Lowell.  Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to her church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
