Ron Wilson

81, born May 4th, 1943 in Lake Village, IN passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, MO.  He is survived by his son, Craig (Marsha) of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Matthew of Lake Village and Victoria (Aidan Mitchell fiancé) of Springfield, MO; brother-in-law Ike Wortley; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna; parents, Lester and Iva (nee Telford); siblings Ken, Don (Louise), Joe (Phyliss), Marlene (Ike) Wortley, and Keith (Dora “Susie”).  Ron served in the Army during the Vietnam War as part of the Army’s 16th Signal Battalion Company D.  Upon his discharge, he went to work as a technician in the Telecom Department with Indiana Bell (later AT&T) and retired from AT&T.  He then worked for Methodist Hospital for the next five years, at which time he retired a second time.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing softball and watching NASCAR (was a FORD man all the way through!), the Cubs and all things Indiana University.  After retirement he liked to spend time in his garage and with family, especially enjoying visits from his grandchildren; shooting guns with his grandson, teaching his granddaughter how to play Euchre, and camping with them and Lorna in their backyard.
