Sarajane Hochmuth (nee Carpenter)
100, went home to be with Jesus on September 28, 2024, in Lowell, Indiana surrounded by family, having lived a long fulfilling life. Born in Bagley, Wisconsin on September 4, 1924, she was the 4th of 9 children of the late Jesse and Elsie (McMahon) Carpenter. Sarajane spent her childhood years in Kingsford, Michigan. In 1946 she married Sidney Hochmuth and together settled in Kingsford where they built their first home. In 1951 they moved to Green Bay where they raised their four children: Gail, JoAnn, Donald and Charles. She would experience a mother’s heartbreak when Gail died of a brain tumor at the age of 14 in 1961. Sid and Sarajane were married 57 years when Sid died just shy of his 85th birthday in 2004.
Sarajane was an active member of the First Christian Church (Life Bridge Christian) of Green Bay and worked many years at H.C. Prange department store.
Sarajane is survived by her three children, JoAnn (Dr. Martin) Schuh, Burke, VA, Donald (Kris) Hochmuth, Janesville, WI, Charles (Dee) Hochmuth, Lowell, IN; 9 grandchildren who absolutely adored their grandma; 16 great grandchildren; brother Clyde Carpenter of Appleton, WI; many nieces and nephews and LOTS of friends.
Sarajane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of a funeral service family and friends from 11 different states gathered together to help her celebrate her 100th Birthday.
A private family graveside service will be held Green Bay, WI.
