Sandra Sue “Susie” Cromer (née Martin)

Sandra Sue “Susie” Cromer, of Lowell, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on May 10, 1943, in Paris, Illinois, Susie was the beloved daughter of the late Fred and Julia Martin. She grew up in Elwood, Illinois, and attended Joliet Township High School.

Susie was a woman of many talents and a generous spirit. She was an exceptional baker, a skilled seamstress, and a gifted quilter. Her passion for quilting led her to become a cherished member of the Heritage Quilters Guild in Crown Point, Indiana. Through her craftsmanship, she created countless treasured memories and heirlooms for family and friends.

Throughout her life, Susie held various jobs and dedicated herself to caring for others. Her final career was as a CNA/QMA at Lowell Healthcare, where she compassionately served those in her care.

Susie is survived by her loving children: Jeff Cromer (Mary) of Elwood, Illinois; Philip Cromer (Tynissha) of Wasilla, Alaska; and Amy Williams of Lowell, Indiana.

She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Breanne Medina (Steve), Kyleigh Cromer, Hana Cromer, Aria Cromer, Austen Cromer, Jillian Williams, Lauren Williams, Payton Williams, and Nolan Williams.

She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Audrey, Owen, Bennett, and Travis, who brought her immense joy.

Susie is survived by her brothers, Tommy Martin (Sandra) and Stanley Martin.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Cromer; her cherished daughter, Rae Beth Cromer; her parents, Fred and Julia Martin; and her faithful companion, Molly, who held a special place in her heart.

Susie will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for her family. The quilts she stitched, the meals she prepared, and the lives she touched will remain a lasting legacy for all who knew and loved her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
