Travis Tucker, Sr.

Travis Tucker Sr., age 86, of Lowell, passed away peacefully, at his home on July 29, 2026.  

Travis was born on Easter Sunday, March 24, 1940, in Savannah, Tennessee, to Charles and Mary (Polk) Tucker. He was proud of his family heritage, often sharing that his mother was a great niece of President James K. Polk.  He graduated from South Side High School, class of 1959. Travis married the love of his life, Peggy Tucker, on August 15, 1959. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend to many.  Raised in a large family of twelve children, Travis spent his youth fishing on the Tennessee River and playing baseball and basketball. He worked as a truck driver for Andy Shaw, laying the railroad at Pullman Standard, and then at the Steel Mill, Youngstown, for 42 years. Travis also loved his time spent farming and raising beef. He was a member of the Lowell Church of Christ. 

Travis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife: Peggy Tucker, sons: Travis (Shelly) Tucker, Greg (Cindy) Tucker, Brian (Jill) Tucker, and Andy (Holly) Tucker, Grandchildren: Lauren Tucker, Leah Tucker, Emily Gross, Courtney Lehman, Alexis McBane, Brian Tucker, Zackary Tucker and ten wonderful great grandchildren, siblings: Betty Rodgers, Frances Rignola, Wilma Clark, and Edward Tucker.  Travis was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Mary Tucker, siblings: Irene Coghlan, Helen Gannon, Janell Ferraro, Roy Tucker, Ruth Sorensen, Ellis Tucker, and Charles Tucker Jr.

Travis will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his unwavering presence as his children's and grandchildren’s biggest athletic supporter. He never liked to miss a game. 

Travis completed his time here on Earth, leaving a beautiful testimony as a loving father, grandfather, a true friend.  He has entered eternal rest, but his story lives on in the family and friendships he has blessed. Friends will be received at Lowell Church of Christ on Saturday, August 15th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm with a 4:00pm memorial service.  There will be a dinner to follow at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lowell Church of Christ. Cremation entrusted to Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Lowell, IN.
