Venus Lukes
98, of Sumava Resorts, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She is survived by her children, Tom (Shirley) Lukes of Sumava Resorts, Robert (Elizabeth) Lukes of FL, James (Katherine) Lukes of Lebanon; grandchildren, Kevin (Sonya) Lukes, Denise (Christian) Ellis, Brandon (Ashley), Dustin (Katie) Lukes and Amber (David) Dougherty and John (Shannon) Gibson; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Karmya Jarvis, Silas and Mani Ellis, Kaylee Gibson, Jalen and Isaac Lukes, Henry, Sawyer and Sullivan Dougherty, Eliott, Sam, Nathan, Adam and Rebekah Lukes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and brother, Otto Zamazal.
Born in Chicago, Venus and her parents moved to their homeland, Czechoslovakia for a few years before returning to the US. She was a 1945 graduate of Lowell High School then joined the Chicago Cadet Nurse Corp. She and Jim owned and operated Lukes Restaurant in Sumava for 28 years. She was the retired Post Master of Sumava, and enjoyed bird watching, painting and traveling.
Visitation, Friday December 29 from 2-5, Concluding with Funeral Services at 5 PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lowell. Cremation will follow.
