Virginia Addleman
92, of Lowell, IN passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. She is survived by her children, David (Cheryl), Linda Jones, Diane (David) Ridder, John (Tonya); 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Virginia was born August 29, 1930 in Butternut Township to Chester (Chet) and Hazel (Peterson) Austin. After High School, Virginia attended Mankato Teachers College and took the two year Elementary Education Program. Virginia and husband, Allan lived in Minneapolis from 1950 to 1954 and moved to Queens (Flushing), New York in 1954. They lived in New York for four years until they moved to Chicago, IL, then built a house in Dolton, IL, eventually moving to Lowell IN.
In 1970, Virginia started working for Lorimer Baptist Church, Dolton IL. She worked there for 10 years as a Secretary/Administrator. And then worked at the University of Chicago as a secretary for 8 years. Upon retirement in 1988, they lived full time in their motor home, traveling around the country. They joined RVICS (Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service) and worked for them until 1992. They bought a home in Lowell, IN and were active at Bethel Church in Crown Point. After Allan’s passing, Virginia moved to Symphony of Crown Point. Virginia was well loved by family and friends. She had a strong faith in God and will be dearly missed.
Cremation will precede Visitation, Saturday, March 11 from 3-4PM with Memorial Service following at 4PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Avenue, Lowell, IN 46356. Burial of Cremated Remains in Lake Crystal Cemetery, Lake Crystal, MN will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassion International at
