William J Maxey “Motormouth”
William J Maxey born October 13 1948 in Wolf, WV, to Mary and Wilbur Maxey and passed away on September 16, 2022 at home in DeMotte, IN. He is survived by his Wife, Cynthia (Reibly) Maxey; children, Michael (Julie) Maxey, Heather (Dave) DeWitt; grandchildren, Abigail (Blake) Jackson, Jacob (Eleni Price) Maxey, Sebastian DeWitt,
Delaney Maxey, Emerson Maxey; siblings, Rose (Joe) Aquino, Fred Maxey; half-brother, Dwight Wilburn Maxey; brother-in-law, Bruce Reibly; sisters-in-law, Pamela (Tom) Nelson, Denise Piskoty; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Wilbur and Mary Maxey, in-laws, Bruce, Donna, Erlene Reibly; brother, John Ray Maxey; half-sister, Barbara Meeks.
Bill was a US Navy Veteran and went on to become a welder, retiring from US Steel. He was an avid Cubs, Bears and Notre Dame Fan; always ready to debate whose better IU or Purdue, IU would be his answer. He enjoyed the outdoors, having many hobbies including camping, fishing and golf. Most of all, Papa Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, always traveling to watch them play sports, ride horses, always pulling the camper to where it need to go, the monthly family fish fry and Friday night football games.
Cremation will precede Visitation, Thursday, September 22 from 11AM-3PM at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave, Lowell, IN. A luncheon will follow at First United Methodist Church, Lowell.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
